Proud Moment: Chattering Kitchen Turns One Today

On this day, last year, my dream donned the attire of reality. A desire brewing inside me for the past two years manifested itself in the form of the newly created Chattering Kitchen. Lack of technical knowledge and trepidation filled my heart and prevented me from starting this journey much earlier. One year on; I can safely say that learning all the technical aspects through research, getting inspiration from loved ones and achieving positive reinforcement through my new-found global food friends have washed away all my fears and made me proud of my journey thus far. It started off as an adventure fueled by passion and is now blossoming into a beautiful child that makes any parent proud. Chattering Kitchen is slowly but surely making a place for itself in the hearts and appetites of foodies around the world. The quotes from numerous followers on my Testimonial page is proof of the fact that my work is not going by unnoticed.

It is been a year full of discoveries, surprises as well as certain setbacks. But the friends I have made along the way and the love from my family and friends make it all worthwhile. I am proud of the fact that now I can help other potential bloggers in any way that they may require by giving them practical advice. I have learnt a lot this past year and want to share it with all those who are beginning their journey or even for those who are currently on the same path:

Firstly, its not how flashy a blog is that makes it successful but its the passion behind that shines to propel your blog to success. If you are passionate about a certain topic and can write from the heart, your blog will be welcomed with open arms. I have met many people that have the desire to start a blog but dont due to certain apprehensions. My advice to them is just take the plunge; start with writing just one piece you truly believe in and the rest will be history, you will find your calling. Do not hide behind your fears, let the words flow.

Secondly, connect with people all around the world through social media. I can proudly say that through Chattering Kitchen I have met many people online that have helped me on the way. Many have become friends, who in turn help by promoting my blog. Each topic becomes a discussion where good advice is offered and there is constructive criticism along with praise. I avoid those forums where everyone believes they are food connoisseurs and going against their word is synonymous to blasphemy. For fruitful dialogue there has to be an atmosphere of congeniality and respect, hence always use those forums to spread the word and create new relationships.

Research all aspects of your blog, whether it be technical or otherwise. I had great help in the setting up of this blog but as I progressed I started teaching myself how to upgrade my blog. I added new features such as email subscriptions and discussion forums, learnt how to embed html links into my blog all through research. It is very important to know all aspects of your blog in order to prevent any mishaps. Similarly, always be prepared for any misdemeanors and copyright issues that may arise. Protect your work from being illegally used and be aware of any harassment on the web. Do not hesitate to take legal action, in such an event, as there are many laws protecting bloggers now.

The list of advice is endless, but the bottom line is to enjoy yourself. Let the blog bring happiness to your life as your entertain your desires and express yourselves. For me it has put me on the road to fulfillment. Being in Malaysia for the past 8 months, I have created a name for myself here through my blog. I now feel proud whenever I am invited for a restaurant or hotel review. Another feather in my cap was my recent 2 day trip to Singapore, where I was invited by 2 restaurants for a review. It gives me great satisfaction to know I am creating a foothold in South-East Asia which is a Mecca for food and travel.

As the number of followers grow and page views increase, I feel immense pride in taking this journey and am eternally grateful to all those who have supported me and helped me get this far. I thank my readers from the bottom of my heart, I could not have managed to get this far without your support.

The journey has just begun, there is a lot more learning and sharing in the years to come. I sincerely hope my passion has helped my readers just the way their support has helped me. I will continue to strive to bring more quality recipes and honest restaurant and travel reviews to the fore.

    Happy birthday to your blog and congratulations. I am young at blogging (5 months only) but it is true that passion grows every day with the desire to share new ideas on food, recipes, pictures… Fear disappears little by little and gives way to writing and sharing. Enjoy what’s coming !
