Who doesn’t love dining out at a high quality restaurant, the atmosphere is fantastic and the food is prepared in such a way that you’re still thinking about the meal even days later.
Many people go out to eat at luxury establishments because they feel that they cannot recreate the food at home. But, with just a few simple tips, it can be quite simple to recreate gourmet dinning right in your own kitchen.
The first tip is to shop local and fresh. You can be assured that any Michelin star restaurant is going to the local farmers markets and making connections with area growers and producers. For super fresh vegetables, find out when your local market will be taking place, many are held on the weekends. If not, the stop in at a local farm, many have farm shares for not only vegetables but also meats, eggs and other dairy
products.
If you live near the sea, find the best and freshest fish shop in town and buy your seafood from there. Just doing this alone will make a great difference in the flavor of your food.
Next, study a few cook books. You might be surprised to learn that many seemingly fancy sauces, desserts or dishes are actually quite simple with only a few high quality ingredients. If you can get comfortable with a handful of preparations or sauces that are generally served in five star restaurants but taste just as good as at home, then you are well on your way. There are many hints and cheats that professional chefs know to make complex dishes simpler, but just as flavorful, research some of those
steps as well.
Finally, it is always a brilliant idea to add to your spice rack. What sets apart high quality and memorable food from the rest is flavour! Don’t be afraid to really season your meals, and experiment with different types of of flavors and spices. A few dashes of a new exotic spice into a standard dish can quickly make it become a delicious favorite.
